Engine Fuel
What kind of gas does it run on?

This Model T Ford runs on unleaded gas. We use non-ethanol, unleaded gas, the kind you get from the gas station.

The gas goes in the tank, which is under the front seat. You use the dipstick to measure the level. The dipstick is calibrated in gallons to the tank.

When driving the car uphill, care must be taken to monitor the angle of ascent, as the level of the engine can rise above the level of the gas tank.
Thus, this car, not having a fuel pump, will starve. The solution is to go up the steep hills backwards. In this manner, we can keep the gas tank above the engine, and thereby keep the engine running.

We have modified the engine to use unleaded fuel, by replacing the valve seats, and valves with a set that is hardend, and capable of handling the harder, lead free fuel. The valves we are using came from the Ford Pinto engine, as they are the same size.
