Check the Oil!

If you're low, you don't go....

This model uses the same oil for the engine and the transmission, together in the same single system.

​Having enough oil for both of these systems is very important. To check the level of the oil, you have to open the petcocks on the bottom of the transmission casing.

​You can crawl underneath the car, and reach these with your hands, or you can use the tool pictured above, as shown in the picture.


I have heard it works like this: When you open the valve, if there is oil at that level or above, some will drip out. If you have oil at the top valve you are good. If not, you should consider adding some, but it is likely okay to drive. If you have no oil at the bottom valve do not run the engine.

We usually run about 4 quarts of 5W-30.
